Vocational Training - DBDOC

Youth with low skill levels are less likely to be working and are particularly vulnerable to poverty. Those without parental care or coming from families at risk of breakdown have an even harder time finding a job. Vocational Training programs are a potential solution to this problem for individuals who are not in the formal schooling system. DBDOC supports young people to help them prepare for the labour market and increase their employment prospects.

Vocational training offers more than just the opportunity to learn a trade. It helps young people to focus, develop a strong work ethic, set and meet achievable goals, and to strengthen self-esteem. The trainees are offered professional training in market driven courses like carpentry, welding, bakery, tailoring and handicrafts. The training program offers young people the opportunity to become skilled on one of the trades which is supplemented by life skills, communicative English and basic computer skills. Taking responsibility for their life decisions helps empower young people to take control of their lives.
