Health parameters of tribal population had always been a concern for India’s march towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Access to health services becomes more difficult in tribal areas as the roads are poor or non-existent. There is a lack of public/private transport and ambulance services and, additionally, telephone network does not reach many areas reliably. Language/social barriers and the lack of access to money etc.

DBDOC has been instrumental in the construction of the Rural Healthcare Center ‘Daya Duar Health Center’ in Polsondamore, Mushirdabad. The objective of RHC program is to increase access to primary care services for patients in tribal communities in and around Polsondamore. The villages predominantly consists of Santhal tribal people who are extremely poor and don’t have access to basic healthcare facilities. Daya Duar has an outpatient department with inpatient ward with 30 beds that caters to average 100-150 patients per day. The RHC is staffed by qualified doctors, nurses and on-call general practitioners. The health center provides free of cost services to the patients and is also equipped with a free dispensary. Recently we have also installed a state of the art physiotherapy center for the people.
