Tribal-Schools-DBDOC

Santal and Oraon, the major tribes of West Bengal are living in the far-flung areas having no roads, no electricity, and no proper water supply. Very few are able to get proper education, and this is adversely affecting the next generation. DBDOC establishes tribal schools to impart quality education to children from Santal and Oraon in the remote and rual areas of Mushirdabad, Jalpaiguri (Oodlabari), Kathihar, Krishnanagar, Kalyani.

All the schools are co-educational catering to 3000 tribal boys and girls from primary to postsecondary levels. Equipped with experienced and trained teachers, well equipped classrooms, library, computer center and science labs. The school aims to enable the children, through quality education, to avail of high and professional educational courses and get employment in various sectors. The schools focus not only on education but also all-round development of each students through various extra-curricular activity, sports, games coaching. DBDOC provides boarding facility to those children hail from poor families in rural areas and lack the means, environment and outlook in pursuing and completing their education. The boarding provides these young children a safe environment along with accommodation, free tuition and nutritional food. The presence of Salesian Fathers and Sisters along with active presence of the educators, care givers at all times with them, helps in the harmonious development of their own capabilities and prevents them from any unhealthy experiences.
