Skills are never taught they are acquired. The tribal handicrafts are specialized skills that have passed down through generations and are a means of exclusive or supplementary livelihood of the tribal community. Skilling the tribes in this indigenous trades would result in creating more competent tribal youth relevant to the present day growth and development module.

DBDOC started skill training to catalyse the tribal skills landscape. The concerted efforts of DBDOC mentored indigenous youth about the value of participating in the skill training program which enhance retention and nurturing Indigenous student in their development in socially and psychologically safe settings. With this intervention, many tribal youth have turned out skilled craftsmen, thereby justifying their potential. In this regard, DBDOC ensures in providing and maintaining quality and culturally sensitive education to Indigenous students so that they not only access remunerative livelihood options but also to sustain the traditional tribal handicrafts.
