Majority of the population in Monsada of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal are migrants from Bangladesh who came over to India with nothing in their hands. They live in a hand to mouth existence as they get seasonal employment in the agricultural work depending in the monsoons which too have become unpredictable due to global warming.

The Salesians have been working for the past 35 years to bring about total development of the poor and underprivileged population in Monsada. The Salesians have been working tirelessly to bring about changes among the migrant population through an active Parish in Monsada and the Don Bosco (English Medium) School. We are educating the children of these migrant population in our school. Now it is time to provide education with best and latest teaching methodologies. One such way which helps in improving the quality of education is by introducing smart schools.  Smart school is a concept which uses technologies or some modern equipment in the classrooms which enables in giving better learning experience to the students. This also helps in attracting more students to school and also will help in reducing school dropouts.

The main objective of the project is to provide these poor children best educational facility so that they can get the maximum benefits from the school through the setting up of smart classes for them. At the moment we have five classes in the school. We plan to set up five smart boards (one in each classrooms). Each smart board costs approximately Rs.1,50,000/• We need a total of Rs 7,50,000 (1,50,000 x 5 = 7,50,000) for installing smart boards in the classrooms. The smart boards will enable us to provide the underprivileged children a more holistic education. We hope to be favoured by you kind and generous consideration for our project.
