Don Bosco Development Society Calcutta in collaboration with Manos Unidas launched “Bridging the Digital Divide” initiative, spanning across five centers in West Bengal. This vital program extends computer training to students, contributing to the evolution of digital literacy. To maximize the impact of our trainers’ instruction, it’s imperative to provide them with a well-structured curriculum and systematic computer education training.

DBDOC orchestrated an extensive two-day teacher training program on August 21st and 22nd, 2023. Throughout these immersive sessions, trainers were immersed in comprehensive hands-on computer tutorials, intended to be seamlessly translated to the classroom setting. The training encapsulated both theoretical and practical facets, encompassing hardware and software essentials, commencing from elementary computer operations. Moreover, technical troubleshooting skills were meticulously imparted, equipping trainers to adeptly address unforeseen challenges.

Teachers were also afforded the platform to demonstrate their teaching methodologies, particularly tailored for newcomers to computer classes. Beyond the curriculum-centric training, trainers gained invaluable insights into project execution, as well as their roles, responsibilities, and the imperative nature of reporting.

This interactive and informative initiative has effectively empowered teachers to bridge the digital divide entrenched in the rural corners of our state. It serves as a pivotal catalyst in fostering the digital development and competence of our children residing in rural areas, offering them an opportunity to enhance their knowledge that they might otherwise miss out on.
