The world of a mother is seen through the eyes of her child.

“Mother is replica of sacrifice and selflessness. “Don Bosco Development Office Calcutta organized a program to honor and uplift the underprivileged mothers living in slum of Kolkata. The event aimed to celebrate motherhood and re-establish its lost glory and pride, especially in slums.

The program included individual counseling sessions to empower mothers to improve their living conditions and glorify their healthy minds. Mothers were given a chance to speak from their hearts, sharing stories about their mothers and their experiences of motherhood. Some open their heart out sharing the struggles of their mothers, while others proudly talked about their close relationship with their mothers. They cherished the moment for having an opportunity to speak about their feelings for the first time.

“Motherhood is the medicine for all pains and sufferings”. She ensures to feed her children even if she is hungry, recognizing the basic needs of these mothers, the program distributed Supplementary Nutritional Food and Hygienic products to support 80 mothers and their children aging between 0-2 years.

The event emphasized the importance of recognizing and supporting underprivileged mothers in society who are constantly fighting to provide the basics for their children. While celebrating Mother’s Day on a specific calendar date cannot fully glorify motherhood, the program aimed to promote the social and moral duty to address issues such as corruption, unemployment, hunger, and atrocities faced by underprivileged mothers and their families
