It is well recognized that improvements in the health status of the population are an important means of sustaining economic and social development. It is an end in itself when it comes to children. At the same time, urban slum dwellers suffer from adverse health conditions primarily due to less income, lack of awareness, and unhygienic condition in which they dwell.
On 27th January 2023, DBDOC organized a Medical Camp at Nitika Don Bosco for the children residing in the slums of Tangra. The purpose of this camp was to provide free medical services and treatments to underserved children of the communities. Medical professional-Dr.Harsh provided check-ups, diagnoses, and treatments to more than sixty children. The majority of the children were diagnosed with anaemic tendencies and the consequences of having a nutrient -deficit diet and weaknesses.
The camp was a successful event that provided much-needed medical services to our children along with the prescribed medicines for the general complaints diagnosed. With the pandemic further highlighting the need to strengthen the healthcare system, it has become imperative to shift focus on last-mile delivery to health coverage and preventive healthcare for the deserving.
