Psychosocial wellbeing is a necessary condition for any human being to realize their full potential and to lead fulfilling, healthy and productive lives. Keeping the same in mind Don Bosco Development Office Calcutta has organized a 2- days Training Workshop on Psychological Wellbeing for the teachers and stake holders of Nitika Don Bosco tuition center with the aim of empowering them to support the psychosocial needs of the children. 

All children needs psychosocial support .These can vary depending on a child’s age, their life experiences, their family situation, gender, and even their individual personalities.  The school and classroom environment, as well as the relationships between pupils and the teacher and pupil, can contribute to supporting a child’s psychosocial wellbeing

This two days training programme was conducted on 27th & 28th June, 2022 at Nitika Don Bosco and was attended by 13 teachers and the Staff members and coordinator of Don Bosco Development office Calcutta.

The First Day’s session covered the important topics of Empathy & Active Listening– which help them to realize the critical importance of Empathy and Active listening. These will make them for considerate as they will understand the situation faced by others as well. They can start developing the habit of actively listening to others.

The Second Day’s session covered the most important segment that is Anger management. This is the most important factor as one should know how to control the anger, and what tools to be used for managing anger. How to control oneself during anger.

The whole session was based on their own personal experience, habit and the real situation they face in everyday life, and how they should handle them on real grounds. This training did not only give them the measures of handling others and managing their emotions but also give them a real way in order to how they can build their relationship more strong in their family by being empathetic and by actively listening to them and as well as by controlling or managing their anger in a positive way. The Workshop was conducted by implementing various exercises, activities and discussions to make the session more interactive and develop an easy way of understanding.

Another important topic that was discussed during the Workshop was Child Protection where the teachers were also oriented about the various policies, need, importance of Child Protection, and how to abide by that in dealing with the children in their family, neighbor and also in their professional surroundings.

The session was conducted with the support of FADV, the Resource Person Mrs.Bidisha Barman,is a Psychological Counsellor of FADV Asia office.

The session also have the presence of Ms. Laboni sil (Sponsorship Program Assistant) & Mr.Biplab Chakraborty (Head of Humanitarian Aid FADV Asia) on the second day of the training. Both the days session concluded after interacting with the children who are sponsored by the FADV.

These two days’ workshop was quite essential for the teachers to equip themselves with these major aspects of life which will help them to have a peaceful life and a healthy mind.
