Menstrual Health and Hygiene are essential for the well-being of women & adolescent girls. However, it is difficult to maintain a hygienic life while residing in the Slums. At the same time, poor menstrual hygiene is a primary reason for the high prevalence of RTIs in the country and contributes significantly to female morbidity.
DBDOC being aware of the vulnerable situation of the adolescent girls of the Slums initiated an Awareness Session. The session aims to educate them about menarche and the physical and emotional changes the females experience during this phase. We explained them in details the hygienic practices they should mandatorily follow to avoid the causes of RTI infections. Our female trainers enlightened the girls about the importance and the procedure of using hygienic commodities like sanitary napkins. The trainer explained in details the severe consequences of maintaining a poor menstrual hygiene.
DBDOC distributed the hygiene kits containing Sanitary napkins and V-Wash to all the beneficiaries. The hygiene-related practices during menstruation are of considerable importance, so we advised all the girls to convert the practices into regular habits to lead a healthy life.
