DB DOC

Welcome to Don Bosco Development Society

22nd March isobserved as World Water Day to raise awareness of the 2.2 billion people, dwelling without access to safe water and advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

In alignment with this important event, DBDOC initiated a significant step by organizing an awareness program for slum inhabitants, emphasizing the importance of clean and safe drinking water and the rational use of water according to their utility needs. The program also highlighted the negative impact of water pollution and the need for collective action to address the global water crisis.

Water is a finite resource, and with increasing population and changing weather patterns, there is a rapid increase in its demand. Therefore it is crucial to manage water resources sustainably and ensure access to safe and clean drinking water significantly for the slum inhabitants. The aim is to engage the public in topics such as water conservation, hygienic water use, preservation of ecosystems, and the development of self-regulating water institutions.

DBDOC’s initiative on World Water Day is a step towards accelerating a crucial move towards expediting the necessary transformation to address the water and sanitation predicament facing disadvantaged populations in urban slums.
