Solar Powered Lamps and Fans for School Children
Since three-quarters of India’s people live in villages that too mostly devoid of modern facilities like electricity, water supply, good roads, etc. the Solar gadgets are spreading the message of alternative energy.
For those who struggle for a square meal a day electricity is a luxury and our hostel children are from this background. The solar lamp stays with the students throughout their time at school, helps with homework and provides safety at night. The solar lights will brought the hostels out of darkness. With solar lamps and fans we are not depending on kerosene, diesel oil etc for lighting up the hostels. It has reduced pollution and health hazards of the children. Less children are affected by cough, eye troubles, breathing problems etc.
The children are able to spend quality time in their studies and co-curricular activities. The introduction of solar energy for light and fan has led to results that are economical and heart-warming. On an average the electricity bills have come down by 36 % and it is hoped that the bills will gradually diminish to the minimum. In general the erection of solar power panels for lights and fans in the hostels have made the surrounding villages and the parents of the children environmentally conscious and it is indeed a big achievement. The villagers can be motivated forcefully to demand from the government to help them to install Solar Power Plants to remove darkness from their huts and make their lives brighter with solar power!
We at DBDOC is very privileged to collaborate with supporters and contributors in the mutual effort to implement wholesome and sustainable developmental activities, projects for betterment, progress of the poor and marginalized of the society.
We installed Solar Panels for supplying Lights and Fans for the children. The five centres where the solar project for lamps and fans have been implemented with the help and support of contributions from the donors.
